Written By: Gary 7 September 2010 Other Posts By: Gary

Gary Reloj talks with Keith Guirao, founder of Locality.cc, where he lists 5 basic steps when utilizing business process outsourcing (BPO).

  1. Make a list of your core business activities.
  2. Identify non-core activities as BPO candidates.
  3. Research and select reliable outsource vendors.
  4. Establish goals and strategies with vendor. Solidify with a written contract.
  5. With the time saved from BPO, enhance core business activities.

    Thanks for this guys!

One note: I would argue that especially in the beginning of your business cycle doing your own customer service IS a core activity. Being close to your customer will only help you learn how to improve your marketing and product.

    1. Agree 100% that you should start off with non core activities as BPO candidates. In the long run,
core activities can be made BPO
    2. A critical part of the goals and strategies step is setting guidelines for Collaboration and Communication. Particularly technology for these. Even if all other things are done right, choose the wrong tech for communication and the BPO effort will prove too costly. My personal preference, pay for cell phone charges for all employees and set up Sococo virtual office.
